“Horch Roofing has implemented a 100% recycling program that recycles 100% of roofing waste. The roofing waste is turned into reclaimed material to be used on driveways.”
“Each year Maine produces over 100,000 tons of re-roofing waste that ends up in landfills,” says Horch. “We realized that our company alone was generating about 2 tons (4,000 lbs.) of waste each day accounting for over 500 tons (1 million pounds) a year. We wanted to do something about our share.”
“Recycling is now part of the culture at Horch Roofing, and it extends to small things in the shop such as water bottles and soda cans. At their location in Warren, a holding pit temporarily houses the re-roofing debris until it can be transported by Doug Fales Selective Cutting, another local contractor, to CPRC Group, a company in Scarborough that converts waste into recycled products.”
